Baths of Caracalla

Baths of Caracalla were built between 212 and 216 by the Roman Emperor Caracalla to gain popularity. They were a central part of Roman urban architecture, where people of different social classes came not only to bathe but also to socialize. The baths featured an entire public library but also had a darker side as slaves worked in extreme heat in underground tunnels to keep the water warm.
